A building in downtown Tucson was evacuated Wednesday because of a threat.

According to a tweet from Tucson Police Department Sgt. Pete Dugan, the Main Library at 101 N. Stone Ave. was evacuated because of a bomb threat.

In an email to Tucson News Now, Dugan said police were called at about 9:50 a.m. after the discovery of a note in the building that claimed there was a bomb inside. The bomb squad is checking the building as a precautionary measure, Dugan said.

The police activity has not affected traffic in the area.
