LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Attorneys for Woodrow Karey are asking the court to throw out a second-degree murder indictment against him.

Karey is accused of shooting and killing Rev. Ronald Harris in front of church members at the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center in Lake Charles in September of 2013.

Karey was first indicted on a charge of manslaughter. Seven months later, his case was presented to a different grand jury which indicted him on a charge of second-degree murder, said Karey's attorneys, who argue that the move was not fair.

A hearing in the case is set for September 15.
