4-year-old pulled from Houma pool; remains in critical condition
HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -
A 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition after be
rescued from the bottom of a pool in Houma.
Officers say that a young girl discovered the victim at
the bottom of the pool and immediately alerted her mother, an off-duty EMT.
The off-duty paramedic and another individual immediately
jumped into the pool and began life-saving measures.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office received
reports of the incident on Saturday afternoon. Deputies say the incident happened
at The Landing Apartments, located on Martin Luther King Blvd.
The child was immediately transported to Terrebonne
General Medical Center where he was stabilized. Officials say he remains in critical
An investigation into the incident revealed that the
child and his mother were visiting relatives in Houma from California. The
child went to the pool area to swim with other family members, police say. The child
was not wearing a flotation device.
