More than 800 job seekers turned out for a job fair in Bossier City Saturday.

The fair got underway around noon at Bossier Parish Community College. The Benteler Steel-Tube company needs workers for its $975 million facility now being built at the Port of Caddo- Bossier.

Right now, Benteler has about 90 employees and they're looking to hire 200 more by the end of the year.

"Benteler has been successful all over the world in all countries, and this is our first mill outside of Europe, in the seamless industry, and we want to be successful here. And we think the people we are finding here will make us that way,” HR manager Rhonda Simmons said.

Benteler eventually plans to hire a total of 675 full-time employees, once their facility reaches full capacity.

Candidates for the hourly jobs who are invited for an interview must be willing to participate in a three-day pre-employment assessment process for operators lasting four hours per day, or a two-day pre-employment assessment process for hourly maintenance jobs lasting six to eight hours per day. Applicants will be required to pass a drug screening and background check.
