Tyler Independent School District had 16 campuses meet the standards set by the state, according to accountability results released Friday by the Texas Education Agency.

Longview ISD earned had 10 campuses meet the state standards. In addition, the district earned 22 STAAR distinctions for state-mandated testing.

Accountability ratings are the result of a multi-faceted measuring system used by the state to determine how well a school is educating its students.

All but three campuses in that district – LEAD Academy, Forest Park Middle and Bramlette Elementary schools –met the state's minimum standard on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.

Ware Elementary students earned three of those distinctions, showing substantial improvement after three years of Improvement Required ratings.

“Passing the test was not an issue at Forest Park,” said Dr. Rebeca Cooper, assistant superintendent at Longview ISD. “In fact, reading and math scores were relatively high. But we need to increase the number of students passing at a higher standard.”

Annual accountability ratings are assigned by the state to each school as well as to each district as a whole.
