TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Department of Public Safety troopers mobilized north of Tyler early Friday morning at what is suspected to be a marijuana growing operation.

DPS Trooper Jean Dark said officials received a tip that someone was growing from an outdoor location off of FM 2016, near CR 427, about a mile and a half north of the loop, just west of Highway 69.

DPS flew a helicopter over the area and confirmed what they believed was a suspected grow. Around 6 a.m. on Friday, DPS troopers moved in on the location

Officers cleared the scene just after 10 a.m. on Friday pulling trailers of marijuana plants behind them. DPS said they seized approximately 700 marijuana plants.

Juanita House says it wasn't until investigators showed up at her door today that she had any idea marijuana was being grown on her property.

"They just came and asked me a few questions they really wanted to know if they could go back in the fields,” said Juanita House, Property Owner.

House says the 100 acre property has been in her family since 1927.

"They said they pulled up some plants, see I had no idea," House said.

DPS officials say sometimes illegal drugs are grown on private land without the owner's knowledge.

"I was always around the place but when you get to be 88 you don't move so fast. I try to keep up with everything its not as easy as it used to be," House said.

House says there is a public road near the back of the property where people could drive in unnoticed.

So far, no arrests have been made.

DPS officials say they will tag the plants as evidence then it will be taken to a crime lab here in Tyler. The marijuana will be weighed and then a portion of it will be tested to prove it is marijuana before it is destroyed.
