TOLEDO, OH (EDITORIAL) -

During the water crisis, we learned a lot about how Mayor Collins communicates in a difficult situation.  And most of his choices were disappointing.

As we dealt with a health crisis that impacted more than 400,000 people, Mayor Collins repeatedly refused to deliver significant information to the media. He put up a defensive wall and refused to answer questions.  He was absent for long periods.  He refused to reveal test results and he wouldn't even say which neighborhoods were most affected.

Even though we all pay for the water and it is our health and the health of our family and pets that were at risk, this mayor decided he knew best about what we could handle or understand.

Mr. Mayor, you left a lot of questions and concerns unanswered.  You were evasive when transparency was needed most.  We deserved to know the truth when you knew it.
