(RNN) - Smartphones and tablets don't have to be a distraction to your child's academic goals. As students across the country head back to class, here's a look at some apps that can help them study harder and smarter this school year.

myHomework Student Planner - Keep track of projects, tests, class schedules and anything else you need to remember with this handy hold-in-your-hand planner. An elegant interface makes for easy navigation. Students can also set up reminders.
