SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport's Public Assembly and Recreation department is making a move to help fight crime in the Port City.

Tuesday evening, they launched the RIP campaign, bringing the Queensborough community together at Bilberry Park in hopes of restoring inner city peace.

Last month, a 14-year-old boy was shot at the park on Lakeshore Drive. Police said it happened after two groups were arguing, and one person pulled out a gun and started firing.

SPAR, along with the Shreveport Police Department, fire department, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and other city leaders were hoping for a night of peace, bringing awareness to violence in the community.

Since the start of the year, police have reports on multiple crimes near Bilberry Park. They range from illegal weapons to assault, battery, truancy and property damage.
