Traffic stop leads to search for suspect in West Shreveport shooting

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A traffic stop turned into a shooting investigation early Saturday morning in west Shreveport. Now, police are working to identify the gunman.

According to Shreveport police, a patrol officer pulled a car over for a traffic stop in the 6200 block of Greenwood Rd. around 2:30 a.m. and learned that someone had just fired shots at the vehicle moments earlier.

Police say evidence recovered at the scene of the crime was consistent with statements provided by the occupants of the vehicle. Officers detained the vehicle's driver along with three passengers. None were injured.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives were called to the scene and gathered preliminary information indicating the vehicle was fired at near the intersection of Portland Avenue and Lakeshore Drive "by a known suspect armed with a handgun."

It is believed that the shooting may have been the result of an ongoing dispute between the man and an occupant inside the vehicle. Now, police are working to confirm the identity of the suspect and get an arrest warrant.

Anyone with information about this shooting are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
