Merritt Landry gets clean slate, back pay

Updated:
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The Marigny homeowner who shot an unarmed teenager on his property last year and was subsequently suspended from his job with the city is getting a clean slate at City Hall and back pay.

Our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune report that a week after the district attorney refused to prosecute the case, Merritt Landry's supervisor told him that his three-month suspension would be erased from his personnel file and that he was entitled to back pay, including benefits.

Landry shot Marshall Coulter in July 2013 after the teen hopped a fence at his home in the middle of the night. When DA Leon Cannizzaro decided not to pursue charges, Landry's attorney said he hoped it was the beginning of a return to normalcy for his client.
