A multi-million dollar renovation is approved for an East Texas courthouse.
Gregg County commissioners approved a $3.2 million contract with Trane Systems representatives to update and renovate air-conditioning, heating and water systems at the Gregg County courthouse.
Some of the water system and duct-work goes back to the 1930's, and the court decided it was time for much-needed repairs.
"You've got systems in this courthouse that are heating and cooling and water systems in here that were being used in the 30's and the 50's. That needs to be replaced, they're not energy efficient. It will save millions of dollars that we've been spending," says Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt.
Commissioners believe updating the systems could save the county around $10,000 a year at the courthouse.
