SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man is behind bars after a domestic dispute earlier this month.

Police say on July 7 they were called to a home in the 100 block of Albany Drive in relation to an armed person being involved in a domestic dispute. Police say the victim told them her husband, 37-year-old Michael Payne, knocked her unconscious outside their home after a verbal dispute turned physical.

The woman said after she woke up, she went inside her home where a second altercation ensued. She says it was at that time Payne pointed a semi-automatic rifle at her.

The woman went to a neighbor's home where she called police. Payne was arrested Monday after turning himself in to authorities. He was charged with domestic abuse battery, aggravated assault and second-degree battery.

Payne was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center where he is being held without bond.
