Police got the call around 3:30 a.m. to a multi-family home in the 3100 block of Holly Street just off Kings Highway.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A man slain early Monday morning inside his Highland home is remembered as someone who defended others .
William David Carroll, 48, was found shot once in the upper body about 3 a.m. at his home in the 3100 block of Holly Street just off of Kings Hwy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbor Dominik Maranto said Carroll was, "a good guy, an all around good guy."
Maranto spoke of his late neighbor in a heroic manner remembering that just last weekend, Carroll stopped thieves from stealing Maranto's property.
"David came out and yelled, and stuck up for me, and they didn't get the lawn mower, but jumped in the car and got away," he said. "That's what kind of guy David was, man."
Police said Carroll and his roommate were inside the home when two suspects, one armed with a gun, went into the home in an attempt to rob them. At some point, one of the suspects fired the gun and hit Carroll.
Both invaders then ran away from the home.
Carroll's roommate is being interviewed by investigators but is not considered a suspect at this time.
Police are looking for two men, one was described as skinny and last seen wearing a green shirt.
