Green Oaks' Washington trying to 'survive' Cowboys camp

OXNARD,CA (KSLA) -

To say former Green Oaks star L'Damian Washington has been through a lot would be an understatement. The Cowboys free agent wide receiver lost his father at age 5 and his mother at a age 15.

But, he says making the Dallas Cowboys' roster would make up for all the pain he and his family has endured over the years.

After injuring his shoulder in OTA's, Washington returned to start training camp and has done everything he can to impress team coaches during one-on-one drills this weekend.

He says he knows as an undrafted free agent, every chance to make a play can make all the difference and each day he wakes up and is still a member of Dallas Cowboys is a shot to change the lives of he and his family members forever.

"Going to college being the first to graduate and kind of having the chance to get us out of the situation that we're in and I know now its either make this team or go back to living on my brother's couch or whatever. So that's the factor that I'm living with. It's kind of like the Hunger Games, you either go back to living on the couch or you go out and try to make this team," said Washington.
