Benton's Wyatt notches top 15 finish at David Toms' AJGA Tourney

Thursday afternoon at Southern Trace ended up being somewhat like Sundays on the PGA Tour, as the AJGA David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior's tournament wrapped up.

On the boys side, Brandon Smith (Frisco,TX) and Blaine Hale Jr. (Dallas,TX) went to a sudden death playoff after finishing tied at -6.

Smith left the door open for Hale Jr. on the second playoff hole at 18.  On his 3rd shot to the par 5, Smith whiffed and missed the ball on a chip from off the green.   He would end up bogeying the hole.

The Oklahoma commit, Blaine Hale Jr, converted on his 3rd straight birdie at 18 to clinch the win by two strokes over Smith.

Meanwhile, Benton's Jacob Wyatt managed an even par final round and finished +2 for the tournament.  Wyatt finished tied for 15th, which was the best of any local golfer.

"It was fun. All my friends are playing good. I love all the support from the local everything. Overall I'm happy with the way I played," said Wyatt.

On the girls side, incoming Loyola freshman Alden Wallace almost made what could have possibly been the play of the tournament.  Wallace just missed a an eagle as the ball rolled just past the cup at the 10th hole.  Wallace would go on to par the 10th hole.  She finished tied for 22nd.

"I thought it was going in. I thought it was actually a fat shot but I missed the putt so..," said Wallace about the missed the eagle attempt. Katharine Patrick from West University Place, Texas was the girl's winner by 5 strokes at -2.
