Cornelius Jackson, 21 of Shreveport Cornelius Jackson, 21 of Shreveport
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Police have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with a shooting Wednesday night that sent another man to the hospital.

The actual shooter, police said, is still on the loose.

Cornelius Jackson, 21 of the 2300 block of Portland Avenue, has been charged with principle to attempted second degree murder for providing the gun used to shoot 18-year-old Sam Coleman Jr. in the back.

Police believe that just before 9:30 p.m. Coleman and a known suspect got into a physical fight resulting in the shooting. That suspect fled the Portland Avenue crime scene.

Jackson also fled the scene but was picked up after a brief foot chase. He has also been charged with resisting arrest and is being held at the Shreveport City Jail.

Coleman was taken to University Health Shreveport with injuries that appeared not to be life threatening.

Detectives are confident they will identify and arrest the shooter very soon, police said.
