BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly stealing farm equipment worth thousands of dollars in Plain Dealing.

Miller County, Arkansas deputies arrested 35-year-old Jamie Lynn Caswell at his home in Fouke, Arkansas. Caswell was wanted by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office for felony theft for allegedly stealing a 2003 John Deere Model 894 8-row corn header valued at $25,000, a John Deere water pump valued at $1,000 and a New Holland 320 hay baler valued at $1,500 from a barn in the 1000 block of Highway 537 in Plain Dealing.

Caswell, who used to work in the Plain Dealing area, was initially arrested last week by the Miller County Sheriff’s Office following a tip by a viewer and charged with theft by receiving after deputies found him to be in possession of two of the three pieces of stolen farm equipment at his Fouke residence. At that point, Caswell told detectives that he was asked by someone else to sell the items. He bonded out of jail on that charge, but upon further investigation, detectives soon determined that Caswell not only possessed the stolen items, but he was the actual thief. The next day, on July 17th, Bossier deputies detectives obtained the warrant for his arrest for felony theft with a bond of $45,000.

Although the corn header and water pump have been recovered, the hay baler is still missing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have purchased a hay baler from Caswell in the past few weeks to contact Bossier Crime Stoppers at 318-424-4100.
