KSLA News 12 Editorial: July 24th-Free TV

Posted: Updated:

Your local television stations are under assault by the big pay-TV companies.

Satellite TV and cable are aggressively working to make changes to legislation before congress that could harm free, local TV. The changes would eliminate broadcasters' ability to negotiate for the value of broadcast signals, which means less choice for viewers and fewer dollars for stations to dedicate to local news, public affairs programming, coverage of emergency weather events and community activities.

On behalf of all the local TV stations in the ArkLaTex, please contact your senators and congressmen today and tell them to stand up to the pay-TV giants. Don't mess with free, local TV!

I'm James Smith.
