SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Bossier City woman was arrested Wednesday for leaving her young children at home alone.

Police said Jamie Lynn Tanner, 25 of Bossier City, went to a doctor's appointment and left five of her children, ages 2 to 8, without adult supervision. The five were on their own from 10 until about 11:40 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Wyche Street.

The four boys and a girl were playing on a telephone when one of them dialed 911. Officers were dispatched because the caller hung up.

Tanner called the house while police were there, and returned as instructed. She left the children while she took her 8-month-old daughter to the doctor, police said.

Tanner was arrested and charged with five counts of child desertion and is being held at the Bossier City Jail.

All the children were placed in the care of a relative and Child Protective Services was notified of the incident per protocol.
