Shreveport police chase ends with suspect, officer in hospital
Police chased a man through a Shreveport neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A Shreveport police officer was injured Tuesday afternoon during a chase through a Morningside neighborhood.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Lindholm Street near Midway and Hearne avenues as officers were patrolling the area.
Police said a man suddenly took off running and an officer gave chase through the neighborhood and called for backup. A K-9 officer eventually tracked the suspect to a shed behind a house. Police shot the suspect with a stun gun, and he was then taken to University Health Shreveport.
Police discovered the man had a felony warrant out of Texas for drugs. He's charged with resisting arrest and possession of drugs.
The police officer was also taken to the hospital to be checked out for cutting his hand during the chase.
