TAMPA, FL (WTSP/CNN) - A 4-year-old boy who Tampa police say may have been thrown from a car died early Monday morning.
Witnesses found the boy in critical condition Sunday night in Tampa.
They told police he may have been thrown from the car.
The child was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police are canvassing the area for any clues.
"Obviously, we're looking at cameras up and down this stretch to see what we can find in video evidence, but we're just trying to figure out exactly how this little boy ended up in the road,” said Andrea Davis, Tampa Police Department.
Investigators say video from red light and business cameras points to a green 2001 to 2004 Ford Expedition that may have had the boy inside.
Police are looking for the driver now.
