SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man is behind bars after police say he shot at a man for being in his neighborhood.

The incident happened Saturday in the 200 block of East Wyandotte Street. Police say 22-year-old Demontaye Williams shot at the victim twice, striking his car.

Police were called to the victim's residence, where he told them Williams asked him why he was on his street. After they exchanged words, Williams pulled out his handgun and threatened to shoot him. The victim, who was not injured, was driving away as Williams fired at him.

Police say damage to the victim's vehicle was consistent to his statement.

Williams surrendered to authorities Thursday. He was taken to Shreveport City Jail and charged with illegal use of a weapon.
