SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -  Shreveport firefighters battled a fire at a local apartment complex Tuesday evening, where they have ordered residents to evacuate.

The fire happened at The Residence at River Bend apartments, located in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road. Formerly known as Quail Creek Apartments, they are located near Shreveport-Barksdale Highway by Walmart.

The fire happened around 5:15 p.m. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.

Investigators believe the fire started near the stove area in a downstairs apartment. There are four apartments in the building where it originated.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators say the downstairs apartments have moderate fire damage and the upstairs apartments have light smoke damage.
