SKIPPACK TOWNSHIP, PA (WPVI/CNN) - A mysterious odor led to more than 100 evacuations on Sunday.

When residents reported an odor, HAZMAT crews were called in to check it out.

The fire department said some houses in the area had high readings of hydrogen cyanide, though they said they believe some other chemical was actually causing the strange smell.

Crews found the high chemical readings in about 100 houses in this community.

About 150 people were evacuated. Some were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
