LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Marion County woman has been sentenced to five years' probation after pleading guilty to Medicaid fraud. Thirty-six-year-old Amanda Coker admitted in court yesterday that she billed the state Medicaid program in 2011 for services she didn't provide. Coker also was fined more than $10,000 and ordered to pay nearly $3,500 in restitution.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Opponents of Arkansas' 12-week abortion ban say a federal appeals court should rule the law unconstitutional, arguing the state is trying to overturn 40 years of court precedent by seeking to reinstate the prohibition. Two Little Rock doctors who perform abortions filed a brief in federal court yesterday. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel appealed a federal judge's decision earlier this year.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - State officials are in talks with Pulaski County to lease an unused building at the county jail to open up at least 200 beds to alleviate jail overcrowding statewide. County officials say they're considering leasing the satellite building to the state for $1. Sheriff Doc Holladay says doing so would free up space for his jail, which has been closed to most nonviolent offenders since July 1st.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is awarding a $1 million grant to the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. The grant announced yesterday is intended to improve early learning and school readiness standards for young children. Division director Tonya Williams says the focus will be on redesigning birth-to-5-year-old early learning standards and identifying new kindergarten entry assessment tools.
