BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Bossier City has launched a free mobile app that aims to improve public safety and communication in the city.

The Bossier City Public Safety app will help residents stay better connected to Bossier City police and fire departments and receive information that affects their community, the departments announced Thursday.

A key feature of the app allows users to instantly receive emergency push notifications for things such as traffic advisories, safety alerts and other important notices. It provides users with access to public safety information exclusively for Bossier City, including police and fire department news releases, information on registered sex offenders and missing children alerts.

Residents can also submit tips directly to the police department through the app. It additionally gives non-emergency contact information for the police and fire departments.

The app is now available for iOS and Android devices. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
