DETROIT (WDIV/CNN) - The 12-year-old Detroit boy, who was reported "missing" but was found in his basement 11 days later, told police his step-mom knew he was there all along.
Charlie Bothuell V said on the day he was reported missing, his step-mother made him go to the basement and hide behind boxes.
He says he was never given food, instead he ran and got it when the family was gone.
Charlie's step-mom, Monique Dillard-Bothuell, was arrested on an unrelated probation violation.
The state is also petitioning the court to keep Charlie away from his father.
Charlie told police his dad hit him with a PVC pipe for two years.
And, police say the boy told them he had to complete two workout sessions every day.
That included 100 push-ups, 200 sit-ups, 100 jumping jacks, arm curls and time on an elliptical machine.
