 Good afternoon!

Here are some stories for you to peruse on this lovely (and hot) Wednesday:

1. A Tyler resident received a token of appreciation from the president while on vacation in Colorado on Tuesday night. On a mobile device? Click here to watch video of the meeting.

2. An online magazine reported Wednesday that the National Security Agency and the FBI covertly scanned the emails of five prominent Muslim-Americans under the government's secret surveillance program aimed at foreign terrorists and other national security threats.

3. University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa issued a statement on Wednesday announcing that UT-Austin President Bill Powers will resign effective June 2, 2015. Last week, Cigarroa had asked Powers to resign or face firing at Thursday's board of regents meeting.

4. On Monday morning, the Palestine Recall 2014 group called for mayor Therrell Thomas and district six councilman Steve Presley to step down, after their apparent 'lack of action' to settle the controversy surrounding police chief Robert Herbert. Today, the City of Palestine said it will take nor action and make no comment at this time.

5. Tyler's first public compressed natural gas fueling station opened Wednesday morning. First Alt Fuel President, Jamal Moharer says the project took nearly three years to implement, but makes economic and environmental sense for the community.

Missing woman Rosalyn Barns

6. Rusk County authorities are asking for information about a missing Rusk County woman, last seen on Tuesday. Police say Rosalyn Barns, 54, was last seen getting into a silver car around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 43 E in Rusk County. Please call 903-657-3581 if you have any information.

7. A Nacogdoches woman was injured, police say, when she and her husband got into a fight over a gun. Her injuries are not life-threatening, and no one has been arrested at this time.
