Walsall, West Midlands (PRWEB UK) 9 July 2014

First Response First Aid, a first aid training provider based in Walsall, West Midlands are proud to be donating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to a worthy local cause as part of their Save a Life campaign.

AEDs are absolutely vital pieces of equipment in the chain of survival in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, the survival rates of which in the UK are currently no more than 6%. However, an individual patients chances can be increased significantly with the prompt use of an AED, combined with properly executed Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

First Response First Aid have chosen to donate an AED to Wyrley Juniors Football Club, an expanding local club with strong links to the community. Based at two separate locations in the Essington/Great Wyrley area of South Staffordshire, the club have approximately 50 teams spanning boys, girls and adults. AEDs can be used on children and adults, and First Response First Aid will also provide Wyrley Juniors with paediatric pads for use with the AED, should they be faced with a child in cardiac arrest.

First Response First Aid Managing Director, Gareth Curtis said: We are proud to be donating an AED to Wyrley Juniors Football Club as part of our Save a Life' campaign. It is important that where an AED is present, as many people as possible know where it is located, what it does, and how to use it. In order for us to spread the word, we are offering free CPR and AED training to anyone involved with the club. We hope that no-one at Wyrley Juniors has to use the AED, but if needed it could make a life-or-death difference.

In addition to its use as a sports facility, the Wyrley Juniors Clubhouse is also host to a number of evening functions in its Community Room and bar. First Response First Aid believe that this enhances the clubs suitability for the donation of an AED as they have a large number of visitors of all ages, all year round.
