BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

There was no fireworks show at Harrah's Louisiana Downs on Thursday, leaving many who attend the event every year at the race track wondering what happened.

We asked Harrah's Louisiana Downs spokesman Ed Walsh, who says they evaluate whether they will have the fireworks on a year-by-year basis, and this year, they opted not to do it.

Among the reasons is the brand new $3.5 million Dare Dayclub Ultra Pool at Harrah's Horseshoe Casino property that opened just last month. Walsh says they want to encourage guests to enjoy the fireworks show over the Red River on Friday night from the new pool. A live band will also be entertaining guests as they wait. The venue accommodates about 1,000 guests.

While the Louisiana Downs fireworks show allowed children, the Dare pool is restricted to those aged 21 and up.
