Caddo brush fire sparked by owner burning debris

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Caddo firefighters are battling a large brush fire Tuesday afternoon just north of Shreveport, and they believe it was started by the property owner.

At least five units from Caddo Fire District 1 are on the scene near the crossing of Shreveport-Dixie and George roads for what Chief Dan Cotton believes to be a 5-acre fire.

The owner of that land was clearing brush and started the fire when embers from burning debris rode wind currents and touched off a larger blaze.

KSLA News 12 is heading out to the blaze and we will update you as we know more.
