Clarksville police searching for carjacking suspect

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Clarksville police are seeking information about a carjacking early Saturday morning outside a gas station on Dover Road.

Police responded to the Exxon on Dover Road at 4:25 a.m. after receiving a report of a carjacking.

The victim said a while male in his mid-30s, wearing a white hat, white shirt and blue jeans, walked up to him and attacked him.

The suspect asked for the man's keys and wallet and began grabbing and pushing him.

A fight ensued that went all the way back into the store. At this time, the store clerk saw what was going on and yelled at the suspect.

The suspect was able to take the car keys from the victim. The man then climbed over the counter and ripped the cash register off and ran out the door with it.

The suspect took the victim's car and drove toward Providence Boulevard. Police later found the car wrecked on Locust Drive. The suspect fled on foot.
