Mom to son's killer: 'Be a man and turn yourself in'

A Richmond mother is demanding justice after her son was shot and killed.

Diane Johnson is daring the man who shot and killed her 25-year-old son, Traelle, to come forward.

"He was man enough to walk to my son and take my son's life," said Diane Johnson. "Be a [expletive] man and turn yourself in. That's how I feel right now. They took my baby away from me. They took my loved one away from me. So, basically my heart is in hell."

Family and friends lit candles and released balloons in memory of the newly engaged father. The tragic shooting at the Chippenham Place Apartments is getting the attention of city leaders.
"Our hearts are broken because this was a senseless act," said councilwoman Reva Trammell. "This was something that did not have to happen."

As police work to identify suspects, Trammel is urging the community to speak up.

"If anybody does not want to call the police... call me," said Trammell. "My home number is 233-7382."
