CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

A 4-year-old boy has drowned in a backyard swimming pool in Caddo Parish. 

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, the boy was found unconscious in the swimming pool at a home in the 9600 block of Dayton Road, where a family gathering was taking place. 

Deputies and Fire District #1 were called to the home after the boy was found unresponsive in the above-ground pool. 

People at the home and firefighters reportedly performed CPR before the child was taken to University Health by Life Air Rescue, where he later died. 

The child's name has not been released.
