NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Police are searching for two men who allegedly robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint.

Officers say that the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on May 27. However, officers state that the incident was not reported until June 25 as the cab driver was nervous about reporting the robbery.

The victim tells police that he picked up two men as a fare and drove them a short distance, making a stop in the French Quarter.

As the driver approached an intersection near the Saenger Theater, the driver states that one of the suspects drew a handgun and demanded money.

Officers say that the driver complied and handed the suspects approximately $200. The suspects exited the cab and ran to a waiting SUV, police say.

The suspects allegedly were picked up near the intersection of St. Louis and Royal Street.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111.
