JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Officials have released the identity of a man found dead inside a burned vehicle in Jefferson County last week.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identifies the victim as Mitchell Wayne Henson, Jr., 47.

Henson's body was found inside a burned vehicle near Lock 17 Road and Paul Allman Road.

A 52-year-old woman was also injured in the crash in the early morning hours on Friday, June 20.

Around 2 a.m., she walked to a nearby home but was disoriented and couldn't remember how she got injured.

She was treated at a hospital and when she awoke around 10 a.m., she was able to tell authorities that she and a male companion had been in a wreck near Lock 17 Road.

Deputies and the Concord Fire Department responded to the area and after a brief search located a burned vehicle in a wooded area off the roadway.

Henson's body was found inside the vehicle.
