A Ludlow man is recovering from injuries after a dog attacked him Wednesday night and killed his dog.
State police say the 83-year-old man was walking his 10-year-old mixed breed dog near Wollaston Beach in Quincy when an 8-year-old pit bull attacked and killed his dog.
The owner, a 44-year-old Quincy man, was out roller blading with his pit on the board walk when it attacked the dog. The pit bull's owner says he couldn't stop the attack because he was on roller blades, according to police.
The Ludlow man was treated at the scene for bites to his arm after he tried saving his dog.
The owner managed to get the pit bull under control before police arrived.
The dog was taken in to custody by Boston Animal Control and will be held in quarantine for 10 days before officials will determine what will happen to the animal.
