ETX woman crosses state line fleeing SWAR police

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

East Texas police have arrested a woman who allegedly took off after a hitting someone with her car.

Police said 23-year-old Shuntay Johnson of Texarkana, Texas tried to flee Texarkana, Arkansas after a hit and run Tuesday afternoon. She ended up on the other side of the state line in Texas by the time it was all over.

When police caught up with her they said she sped off and caused another crash on W. 13th Street and Summerhill Road. After that wreck, Johnson tried to run off on foot with her five children.

Officers finally caught up with her again, this time in an alleyway where she was seen tossing the children - all age 6 or younger - over a fence.

Johnson then ran off, leaving the little ones behind. They were taken to a hospital to looked over for any injuries.

Johnson was caught and is now charged with endangering and abandoning a child and resisting arrest and evading arrest on foot.

She also had an unrelated felony.
