Tyler police investigate string of overnight robberies

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police are searching for three suspects after a string of aggravated robberies on Sunday night.

Around 9:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to 5709 Mustang Trail in reference to an aggravated robbery that had just occurred. The victim said he had been robbed at gunpoint, and described the suspect as two black males wearing dark colored hoodies. The suspects allegedly struck the victim in the head with a handgun and stole his cell phone, before quickly leaving the area on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Then, about 30 minutes after the first incident, officers were dispatched to another aggravated robbery reported at 1909 Sybil Lane. The victim told police that two black males wearing dark colored hoodies approached her and one of the suspects pointed a handgun at her and stole her debit card. The suspects then fled the scene. No injuries were reported in the second incident.

A short time later, just before 11 p.m., a residential burglary was reported at 2103 Jackson Street. The caller said three black males knocked on the door of her residence. When the victim answered the door, the suspects entered the home and pointed a handgun at her and demanded money. One of the suspects was described as a heavy set male wearing a dark colored hoodie. The second suspect was described as tall and thin wearing a black T-shirt. There is no description of the third suspect, according to the police report. The suspects stole two cell phones and left the area on foot. No one was injured.

Investigators believe the three crimes are related because of the times the incidents happened and the description of the suspects.

These crimes are currently under investigation.  Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000.
