(WMC) - It was another year and another day full of miracles during the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. But only one lucky winner was able to claim the $500,000 home built to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

There were 13,000 chances to win the home, but there could only be one winner.

Robert Clark rushed home from church Sunday to watch the live drawing on WMC Action News 5.

"And so we just happened to see it and so I just couldn't believe it," said Clark.

Clark, a retiree who purchases a Dream Home ticket every year, did not come to collect his prize alone.

His wife, family, and friends shared his joy and marveled at the four bedroom, three and a half bathroom home. The Dream Home is labor of love for the builders and dozens of companies who donate all the details.

All on behalf of patients like 13-year-old-Courtney Davis, who has been getting sickle cell treatments at St. Jude since she was a baby.

"I feel amazing and I'm doing normal kid things and it's just great," said Davis.

Mid-Southerners' response to the needs at St. Jude was also great. This year the hospital increased the goal for Dream Home ticket sales and it was a sell out.

It was a little daunting but you know once again the citizens of the MidSouth have proved they are the most generous the most caring," said Dr. Susan Aguillard, St. Jude Board Chairperson.

Robert Clark never expected to win a new home. However, he knew his $100 donation would help save lives and that was more than enough.

"They help a lot of kids and we always watch that you know it's good to help St. Jude," added Clark.

It is never too late to help St. Jude, their needs do not stop after today. A monthly donation of whatever you can give is what keeps the hospital going year round; a place of hope that costs almost $2 million dollars a day to operate.
