SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An early Sunday morning drive-by ended with a Shreveport man suffering a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. in front of a house in the 3000 of Morningside Drive. Witnesses said a red car drove by and someone inside opened fire on a group of people.

That's when Damariay Pinesett was hit by a bullet to his upper left shoulder. His friends loaded him into a 1998 Honda Accord and began to drive him to the hospital, running a traffic light in the 3700 block of Hearne Avenue, police said.

Officers pulled the car over, saw Pinesett's condition and had medics rush him to University Health Shreveport. He's expected to make a full recovery.

The witnesses weren't able to describe the car, nor the driver. They also told police they weren't sure why someone would shoot at them.

An investigation is ongoing. If you have information on the case, call Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373
