The Benton Elementary School Archery club has been working hard this summer to go to the World Championship competition July 11.
BENTON, LA (KSLA) -
The Benton Elementary School Archery Club is headed to the Archery World Tournament in Madison Wisconsin.
They've spent most of their summer working hard, practicing. The team earned the title of Elementary School State Champions earlier this year and earned top spots at the national competition in Kentucky in May.
They will compete at the world championship against 3,000 other archers July 11-13.
"I'm really excited to go there and win it," said fifth grader Lake Bradford.
The club is raising money for their trip by selling fish plates this Saturday June 21 in the Airline High School parking lot. Plates are $10 each or a generous donation.
"I was excited a lot when I found out we were going, because this is my first year and going to a world competition is pretty big," said fourth grader Kaitlyn Masters.
