Victim in Shreveport motorcycle wreck identified

A man is dead after a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning in Shreveport near the Bossier border.

Just after midnight, Shreveport police responded to the crossing of Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway and Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. There they found Derrick M. Hall, 23, dead of apparent injuries.

Police said the victim was driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle and collided with a 2009 Hyundai Accent. A witness said the cyclist was headed south on Fant coming up to Shreveport-Barksdale when the wreck happened.

According to police reports, the Accent, driven by Janee Clay of Shreveport, reportedly turned onto Fant headed east from the exit ramp of Shreveport-Barksdale. The witness said Clay pulled into the path of the motorcycle, which hit the car on the driver's side.

Clay was not seriously injured, but was taken to a hospital for routine toxicological testing.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but investigators believe speed may have been a factor.
