A Crockett Navy veteran who survived the Japan attack on Pearl Harbor has died.
William Jasper "Bob" White was 94.
According to family members, White served on the USS YO44, a fuel ship which caught machine-gun fire from the Japanese in the Pearl Harbor attack.
"The Japanese plane came right down on the side of the deck and he saw that fella driving that plane," said White's widow, Jane.
After surviving Pearl Harbor, White would travel to New Guinea, Midway and Australia before returning home.
"At the time he was just glad to survive," said son William White. "After it soaked in with what really happened, he really got gung hoe with the war effort. "
White's first wife died from cancer. A few years later, White would meet Jean.
"Bob had a date, but she couldn't make it and she was a short girl so when he saw me the first thing he said was, 'O She's tall'" Jean White said.
White had four sons, all of which say he was a jack of all trades and taught them respect.
"He made us four boys what we are today because of his work ethic," Bryant White said.
"We never needed anything," Steve White said. "He didn't give us everything we wanted, but we had everything we needed. "
