A woman with alleged connections to the Aryan Nation and wanted for a gang-related attempted murder in Tennessee has been arrested in the ArkLaTex.
37-year old, Crystal McGuire was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Sabine Parish, after deputies spotted her vehicle on Highway 6 in Many, Louisiana. Officials say she may be linked to the Aryan Nation.
McGuire was wanted out of East Tennessee, near Knoxville. According to WATE, officials say a substantial number of Aryan Nations gangs are active there, and the one McGuire allegedly belonged to had been around for more than 10 years.
Officials say McGuire and several others severely beat another member of the Aryan Nation organization. "The attack was believed to be a part of the business of the organization essentially a punishment of one of their own members," Anderson Co. prosecutor Ryan Spitzer told WATE.
McGuire was found on Wednesday, 11 hours away from Knoxville, in Many, Louisiana. McGuire says she is the secretary of the gang. Deputies say she is reportedly an employee or member of the Aryan Nation. The woman was on the run living with a man near a BJ's Wholesale Club west of the Town of Many.
According officials, the gang now uses the white power symbolism to recruit members but often the crimes committed are geared toward making money. "Bringing contraband into the penal system what's worth X number of dollars on the streets maybe worth three-times as much inside the penal system because it's hard to get so that can be a tremendous source of revenue for instance for the Aryan Nation," Spitzer says.
Back in 2012, KSLA News 12 investigated an Aryan Nation's chapter that was setting up shop in Converse, just north of Many.
There is no word yet on whether the two groups are connected. Leonard Kilgore, Jacob Campbell, Michael O' Conner, and David Dozard, are all already in custody for the beating.
WATE reports that the five alleged members of the Aryan Nation have been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy. Though The Sabine Parish Sheriff department says they picked McGuire up on a warrant of aggravated assault.
