TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

Gunfire and a wild chase in Texarkana, Arkansas led to the arrest of a Hurst, Texas fugitive.

That chase started at Whataburger and ended at Walmart. Eric Phillips was taken into custody by Texarkana police assisting the marshal's office.

Officers found Phillips on State Line Avenue getting food, then he took off. They said he then tried to escape by ramming into at least two vehicles.

Officers fired when he allegedly tried to run them over.

"He attempted to run over some of our officers and in an attempt to flee they were able to shoot and disable the car. No one was hurt and he continued to try and get away," said TTPD Sgt. Aaron Brewer.

Phillips got out of his car and ran onto the roof of a two-story motel, then jumped and ran to a nearby Walmart where he was finally arrested.

He's now charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault on a public servant, evading arrest and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
