Funeral arrangements set for Guardsman found dead in river

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Funeral arrangements have been set for a Prairie View man who died late last week in a tragic incident on the Red River.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home, 1339 Jewell St.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke CME church, 2110 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Desdunes will be buried at Round Grove Cemetery.

Desdunes' body was found late Saturday by boaters in the Red River. The 22-year-old National Guardsman jumped from a Kansas City Railroad bridge Thursday night with a friend. He was unable to reach the shore and was missing for two full days.

Desdunes was a member of the Army National Guard's 108th Calvary unit, and was based at Fort Humbug in Shreveport.
