GOLDEN MEADOW, LA (WVUE) -

A fugitive from Maryland wanted for violating his parole was captured by police in Louisiana.

Golden Meadows police arrested 48-year-old Ronald E. Flawd Jr., after being contacted by the State of Maryland Parole Commission with a tip that he was staying in a local motel. Police considered him armed and dangerous.

According to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, police spotted and arrested Flawd at the motel at 7 p.m. He is now in the Lafourche Parish Jail waiting extradition to Maryland.

Flawd was on parole from an October 2010 conviction for second-degree assault. He was also facing attempted murder charges in the incident which occurred in April 2010 where he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, choking and nearly breaking the her arm before attacking her with a knife.

Flawd was found not guilty on the attempted murder charges. He was granted parole, but was then arrested for public possession of alcohol and did not show up at this July 2013 court hearing. He did not notify his parole agent of the arrest or get permission from work to the state of Maryland to leave the state, all of which are violations of his parole.

His criminal history includes arrests for criminal mischief and conspiracy, theft, drug and weapon charges, assault, and battery within the states of Maryland and Pennsylvania.
