Students help relocate massive bee colony in Savannah
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The Jerusalem Baptist Church has been experiencing a growing issue with bees and Savannah Country Day school students and staff are working to relocate them instead of destroy the bees.
Over 60,000 bees have found their home in the walls of the church. With the help of teacher Andrew Wiley and a group of experienced students the bees will be relocated to the Savannah Country Day School campus.
This is not the first time that the bees have been moved, the students participated in the event from 9 a.m. to 11.
The project aims to resolve the churches issue and allows for students to learn because after the bees are relocated their honey will be harvested.
